Synopsis
Flonne, an angel trainee, comes down to the Netherworld from Celestia with orders to assassinate the king of the Netherworld. The magic she casts awakens Laharl, the Overlord’s son, who was sleeping in the Stellar Graveyard. He had been asleep for no less than two years.
Out of nowhere the keepers of the graveyard and the party of Gordon, the Defender of Earth, attack him, and he drives them off, but he cannot grasp what is going on.
Laharl and Flonne, at odds with each other, learn that Laharl’s father, the Overlord Krichevskoy, who had ruled the Netherworld until then, died two years ago. What is more, officially Laharl had been missing since the Overlord’s death. With no heir to the throne, they are told, demons calling themselves Overlord founded countries everywhere, fought again and again to widen their lands, and the Netherworld fell into utter turmoil.
Furious at what he hears, Laharl declares that he will conquer the Netherworld, Celestia and Earth.
Then Etna, Laharl’s right hand, shows up, so well timed that it looks staged. Laharl heads for the Overlord’s Castle with Etna and the Prinny Squad, Etna’s servants, who look like penguins.
Meanwhile Flonne, left behind, loses the pendant she needs to stay alive in the Netherworld and is about to collapse on the road, but the handsome demon Vyers saves her.
Laharl hates things like “love” and “kindness”, but Flonne, convinced that there is “love” in Laharl’s heart too, goes after him and his group. And though it makes her his “lowest-ranking servant”, she decides to follow Laharl’s party.
And so begins the journey of Laharl, Etna, Flonne and the Prinny Squad to conquer the world… or is it?
