Synopsis
On March 1 of the 15th year of Kan’ei (1638), on the ground where the Shimabara-Amakusa uprising had been put down, Shosetsu Yui and Musashi Shinmen witness an uncanny sight: a strange old man, Souiken Mori, brings Shiro Amakusa and Mataemon Araki back to life, splitting women’s bodies open.
Souiken, once a retainer of Yukinaga Konishi, who was defeated at the Battle of Sekigahara, had developed the technique called the “Ninja Art of Demonic Reincarnation”, which uses a woman’s body to bring those of mighty body and spirit back to life, and he harbored the ambition of overthrowing the Edo shogunate.
