Synopsis
In the Kanagawa qualifier for the Inter-High, the Shohoku basketball team has been winning steadily, and its next opponent is Tsukubu High, led by Godai, who played on the same junior high basketball team as Akagi and Kogure.
Hanamichi, in a terrible slump after being sent off without scoring in three games in a row, is fired up to shine next time and show Haruko what he can do, but Tsukubu’s rookie Nangou turns up as a rival in love too. Hanamichi and Nangou were fighting over Haruko in this very game!
With Nangou’s powerful jumping and Godai’s accurate three-point shots, the game goes at Tsukubu’s pace.
But in the second half, Hanamichi devotes himself to taking rebounds, and little by little the game swings to Shohoku’s pace. Feeling the truth of “whoever controls the rebounds controls the game”, Hanamichi was about to break the tournament record for rebounds. Yet at the same time he was in a pinch, one more foul away from being sent off.
Will Hanamichi set the rebound record?! And how will the contest in love over Haruko turn out…!?
