Sanjuro

Synopsis

Nine young samurai had gathered in a shrine hall in the dead of night. To denounce their superiors’ corruption to the heads of the clan… The nine, hot-blooded, argue over how to do it.

“Wait.”

Before the startled nine, a lone ronin (Toshiro Mifune) appears from the back of the hall. Having overheard their argument, he warns them that the superintendent they mean to rely on is the very one to suspect.

The young samurai bristle, but the hall ends up surrounded by a force led by Hanbei Muroto (Tatsuya Nakadai), the superintendent’s man.

The ronin, who saves the young samurai by putting on an act, gives his name as Sanjuro Tsubaki and decides to lend a hand to the nine, young and green.

The fight of the ten has begun!
