The Law of Ueki

Synopsis

Kosuke Ueki, of class 1-C at Hinokuni Junior High, is given “the power to turn anything he sees as trash into trees” by Mr. Kobayashi (known as Koba-sen), on the surface his homeroom teacher and in truth one of the God Candidates.

One day, during a test, his classmate Ai Mori happens to see Ueki’s power with her own eyes; she eyes him with suspicion and follows him around to find out what he really is. But as she watches Ueki’s self-sacrificing acts of “justice”, she becomes, before she knows it, someone who understands him.

And Ueki, now with his power, is drawn into the battle held by the 100 God Candidates, Mr. Kobayashi among them: “a battle that entrusts the world to junior high students, to see what kind of law the one who changes the world will have!” The junior high student who wins that battle receives the “Blank Talent”, in which whoever holds it can write any talent they like.

Besides Ueki, with his “power to turn trash into trees”, this fantastic battle draws in one tough rival and strong enemy after another, with astounding powers such as “the power to turn ideals into reality”, “the power to turn hand towels into iron” and “the power to turn beads into bombs”. And they stand in the way of Ueki, who is trying to keep the “Blank Talent” from falling into evil hands. Can Ueki really become the best junior high student in the world…!?
