Slam Dunk 1

Synopsis

The Shohoku basketball team goes eagerly into a practice game against the powerhouse Takezono High, a regular among the top eight in Kanagawa. But Takezono is a school where girls make up seventy percent of the students, and their shrill cheering becomes one more source of pressure on Shohoku.

Meanwhile, Hanamichi Sakuragi runs into Youko Shimamura, the fiftieth girl to turn him down in junior high, a milestone worth celebrating? She had come to Takezono out of admiration for its ace, the center Tatsumasa Oda.

Reviled by that same Oda, “You fooled around in junior high, you’ve got no right to play basketball!”, Hanamichi does nothing but make a sorry spectacle of himself in front of Oda once the game begins.

But Haruko’s cheering changes everything. “Go for it, Sakuragi!” At once Hanamichi starts moving better. Takezono’s players, Oda first among them, who had looked down on Hanamichi, suddenly heat up too.

Can Gori, Rukawa and Hanamichi beat Takezono, with its Oda…!?
